The MSYC team say “Help Support Will”

Will Wilson is one of older young carers who now supports the project as a fantastic volunteer and mentor. We are very lucky to have him and he has done a lot for MSYC and the young people particularly in the Senior group. Alongside, Justin Sillince another of our volunteers he helped to supervise our young carers who completed the 2010 SCYP 100 mile Canoe test and now has decided to participate in another challenge.

The 200 mile

The 200 Mile River and Land challenge is a double event where 100 miles will be done in a kayak in 4 days on the River Severn, and 100 miles by walking the West Highland Way finishing off at the top of Ben Nevis in just 8 days.

One brave sole Will is mad enough to take on the double challenge but everyone else who will be doing the West Highland Way is still just as crazy.

The first of the challenges, The 100 Mile Kayak Challenge, is taking place on the 29th May 2010 and as promised will be completed in 4 days.

The second challenge, The West Highland Way, will be taking place on the 1st August 2010 by all of us and we expect to complete it in just 8 days. The walk officially starts at Milngavie near Glasgow and finishes at the foot of Ben Nevis at Fort William, we decided that it wasn’t a BIG enough challenge so we are also walking to the top of Ben Nevis.

Last year Will raised approximately £700 and with the extension in the challenge and the added Team Members (Paul Songer, Chris Wilson and Alice Gisborne) they would like to raise £3,000.

Together they are raising funds for the Mid Surrey Young Carers and so Please support Will and donate through the following link: http://www.justgiving.com/200milechallenge

Good Luck Will and the team!
